The control of pH is essential in many different type of aquatic systems. The most common use of pH control is to counteract the acidity produced by the process of nitrification in recirculation systems. Without pH control in such systems, the pH would rapidly fall to a level that is toxic to the animals, as well as the bacteria in the biological filter (Aquatext Dictionary: pH Control). In order to raise the pH and maintain it at an optimal level, the AquaDose System can be programmed to dose sodium bicarbonate into the system as needed.

Features

Conductivity is the ability to conduct electricity, i.e. the measure of salinity and minerals in the water. Because variations in salinity can cause stress and mortality in aquatic animals, it is important to maintain a stable level in the system water, especially when a system is supplied with reverse osmosis water.

The AquaDose System includes pH and conductivity transmitters, pH and conductivity probes, dosing pumps, and dosing tanks. On a Stand Alone System, the AquaDose is mounted onto the rack; on a Central Filtration System, it rests on a stainless steel stand.

  • The pH and conductivity (salinity) transmitters monitor the levels of pH and conductivity in an aquatic system via the two probes. As soon as the unit recognizes a divergence from the pre-programmed pH or conductivity levels, it will automatically pump the necessary chemicals into the aquatic system in order to maintain these levels.
  • The dosing pumps are electronic metering pumps that administer a metered amount of control solution as directed by the transmitters
