Sutter Instrument is a global leader in the design and manufacture of precision scientific instruments for biomedical research. Founded in 1974 by Dale Flaming and Jim Wall, the company was incorporated in 1977 and has grown from a startup into a world-renowned manufacturer. Headquartered in a 55,000 square-foot facility in Novato, California, US, Sutter Instrument employs over 60 specialists, many with neuroscience backgrounds.

The company's product portfolio spans micropipette pullers, amplifier systems, micromanipulators, microinjection systems, precision microscopes, imaging components, stages and translators, perfusion systems, and photomanipulation equipment. Every instrument is manufactured on-site under strict quality control, with one of the finest precision CNC machining facilities in Northern California. Sutter Instrument is widely recognized for pioneering digitally controlled micropipette technology with the introduction of the P-77 puller in 1977 – the first of its kind on the market. Over the decades, the company has continued to innovate, launching landmark products such as the P-2000 Laser Puller, the XenoWorks® microinjection system, and the dPatch® Amplifier System.
In 2022, Sutter Instrument further expanded its capabilities by acquiring WaveMetrics, the developer of the Igor Pro® data analysis software.
