Microlit KENO MINI — Cordless Precision Aspiration, Wherever the Science Happens

The Microlit KENO MINI redefines the concept of laboratory vacuum aspiration by integrating professional-grade suction performance into an ultra-compact, battery-powered instrument. Designed for researchers, clinicians and laboratory technicians who require both high aspiration reliability and unrestricted mobility, KENO MINI excels in cell biology, microbiology, point-of-care diagnostics and any workflow where portability and bench space conservation are a priority.

Key Features

Cordless Operation — Built-in Rechargeable Lithium Battery

The defining feature of KENO MINI is its integrated rechargeable lithium battery, which eliminates dependency on a fixed power outlet entirely. A single full charge provides an extended operating runtime, sufficient for completing multiple workflows or full working sessions in the field, clinical ward or mobile laboratory environment. When a power source is available, the battery recharges via the included 12 V power adapter (universal input: 100–240 VAC).

This cordless capability makes KENO MINI uniquely suited for point-of-care settings, hospital wards, mobile diagnostic units and any laboratory situation where power outlet access is limited or impractical.

High-Efficiency Vacuum Performance in a Compact Format

Despite its compact dimensions, KENO MINI delivers the same core vacuum performance as its larger counterpart. The brushless DC motor generates a fully adjustable vacuum of 0 to −850 mbar, with a maximum air flow rate of 15 L/min and a liquid aspiration rate of 23 to 40 mL/s. Noise levels remain below 65 dB at 1 m distance at maximum vacuum, ensuring a non-disruptive working environment.

The Smart Switch On/Off Button provides intuitive single-touch activation. The operator sets the desired vacuum level and begins aspiration immediately, without complex setup procedures.

Ergonomic Compact Design

The minimised footprint of KENO MINI allows it to occupy a fraction of standard bench space. Its ergonomic form factor and lightweight construction make it easy to reposition, carry between workstations or transport on the optional trolley (K-TR). The fence-style bottle holder integrated into the base prevents accidental tipping of the collection bottle during active aspiration.

Chemically Resistant Polypropylene Collection Bottles

KENO MINI is supplied with autoclavable polypropylene (PP) collection bottles in two sizes: 0.5 L (model K-M0.5) and 1 L (model K-M1). Polypropylene offers excellent resistance to a wide range of biological media, buffer solutions and aqueous laboratory reagents. All caps are fitted with built-in tubing connectors for rapid, tool-free assembly.

Full Compatibility with Microlit Aspiration Accessories

KENO MINI accepts the complete range of Microlit aspiration accessories, including the hand controller (K-HC) and the full stainless steel needle set. Multiple adapters enable aspiration from tubes, dishes, bottles, T-flasks and 24-well or 96-well plates, transforming the KENO MINI into a highly versatile liquid aspiration platform.

Applications

  • Removal of supernatant from microcentrifuge tubes and conical tubes following centrifugation
  • Aspiration of spent culture media from multi-well plates (24-well, 96-well formats), T-flasks and Petri dishes
  • Rapid clean-up of bench-top liquid spills
  • Liquid waste collection during microbiological and serological workflows
  • Mobile clinical aspiration at the point of care or in patient-facing environments

Material Compatibility and Safety Notes

  • Recommended tubing: Silicone or EPDM
  • Avoid exposure to corrosive gases: H₂S, SO₂, NO₂, Cl₂, formaldehyde vapours
  • Avoid disinfectant gases that may affect motor performance
  • Polypropylene bottles are resistant to a wide range of biological media, buffer solutions and aqueous laboratory reagents

Certifications and Quality

The Microlit KENO MINI is CE certified and manufactured under quality management systems compliant with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485 and ISO 17025. The instrument is rated IP41, providing protection against dust ingress and vertical water dripping. Microlit, established in 1991, serves over 8,000 customers in more than 95 countries.
