Rat IV bolus

A clean, low-stress method of delivering manual intravenous bolus doses directly from a syringe.

Use a Vascular Access Button™ instead of an externalized catheter for manual IV boluses for several reasons:

  • Extended patency because the catheter is under the skin, minimizing evaporation
  • Reduced risk of infection because it is a closed system
  • Repeated access does not damage the catheter tubing
  • Animals can be group housed in between doses

You can order animals with the VAB™ and catheter implanted by the animal vendor. Group house the rats using the protective cap (VABRC). Inject the dose using a syringe fitted with a PNP3M injector, then flush in the volume remaining in the catheter with sterile heparin-saline.

See below typical application setup containing component list. If need any support to choose other setup parts, don't hesitate contact Animalab team.
