The Phantom™ Bedding Disposal Station (BDS) from Allentown is a purpose-built workstation for the safe and efficient removal of used bedding from animal cages. Powered by ECM motor technology — the same platform used in the Phantom2 Animal Transfer Station — the Phantom BDS is one of the most energy-efficient units on the market, combining quiet operation with reduced vibration and a commitment to ecological responsibility.
Staff protection is addressed through the Container Particulate Reclamation System, which prevents bedding debris and allergens from escaping the waste receptacle during the cage dumping process. This closed containment approach significantly reduces allergen exposure for vivarium staff, a critical consideration in facilities handling large numbers of cages daily.
The Phantom BDS has been redesigned for greater usability: the enlarged work surface accommodates larger cage formats, the sloped surface channels loose bedding directly into the collection bin, and the doubled illumination (compared to the previous model) ensures a well-lit working environment for thorough cage inspection and bedding removal.
