Audio output

It allows data to be played back as sound. Audio output is useful for teaching and research and can be used to play back sounds such as heart sounds, animal sounds and voice.

Cardiac axis

Cardiac Axis is a LabChart add-on that automates the calculation of frontal plane electrocardiograms and the vectorcardiogram. It can also animate the instantaneous cardiac vector display.

Event manager

It monitors incoming signals, detects user-defined events, and performs associated user-defined actions, such as:

  • raw incoming signals
  • online channel calculations
  • computed functions

In response to changes in the monitored data, Event manager can function as an 'alarm' and initiate many different actions, such as:

  • flashing a light on-screen
  • playing a sound
  • adding a comment to the file
  • playing a macro
  • switching external equipment on and off using the PowerLab digital outputs

Event manager can monitor all input signals that are visible on-screen during sampling. The results of channel calculations that are performed during sampling, such as Arithmetic and Smoothing, can be monitored. The results of offline calculations cannot be monitored because they are not visible during sampling.

Export QuickTime

The Export QuickTime add-on for LabChart allows you to save LabChart data files as QuickTime movies. The QuickTime movies can be viewed on any QuickTime supported platform or embedded in other media that supports QuickTime movies. For example, they can be inserted into PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, or html pages.

Fast response output

The Fast response output add-on for LabChart allows you to control the digital outputs on /30 and /35 series PowerLab units and the analog outputs on /20, /25 and /30 series PowerLab units (other models not supported), which is useful for generating rapid responses from within the PowerLab itself.

Because Fast response output responds to the input signal as soon as it reaches the PowerLab, the resultant user-defined output is produced in less than 1 millisecond, irrespective of the speed of the computer.

LabChart remote

Labchart Remote extension allows you to use the LabChart remote app. This is a free app which connects your iOS device to your sampling computer, allowing you to control LabChart remotely over your local network  from your iPhone or iPad.

Using the LabChart Remote App and extension, you can:

  • Easily control your experiment by starting and stopping recording when you're away from the machine.
  • Add custom or pre-configured comments to your data while recording in LabChart.
  • Run Macros to execute custom experiment protocols or perform online analysis.

Multipoint calibration

Convert raw voltage signals from your Powerlab to your studied quantity using Multipoint calibration as a channel calculation. The Multipoint calibration add-on extends Units conversion (which provides a two-point linear calibration) in LabChart to allow you to perform linear and non-linear corrections on any input using up to 12 standard points, in real time. Copy or print the fit equation, SSE and R2 information.

Scheduler

The Scheduler extension for LabChart allows the scheduling of recordings across one or more LabChart data files. A schedule may consist of an initial delay, followed by repeated recording cycles, until a specified end time.

  • Schedule recording from multiple experiments into individual LabChart files.
  • Reduce file sizes in long-term recordings by scheduling the recording of small representative snapshots, rather than recording continuously.
  • Autosave data after each recording cycle.
  • Add comments when Scheduler starts and stops recording.

Spirometry

The Spirometry add-on for LabChart is used to derive a number of respiratory parameters based on flow and volume, such as VE, VT, frequency, PIF, PEF, FVC, FEV1.

The Spirometer (or Spirometer pod) and flow head function together as a pneumotachometer, with an output signal proportional to the air flow rate during breathing. The Spirometry add-on for LabChart processes this raw signal, and:

  • Provides channel calculations to display particular respiratory parameters in LabChart channels.
  • Calculates various other respiratory parameters, which are presented in the Spirometry Report.
  • Displays a flow–volume plot, and a spirometry data window, in which the locations of PIF, PEF, FVC and FEV1 are indicated for teaching purposes.

Applies various corrections to improve accuracy.

Please note that the Spirometry add-on is not intended for clinical testing of lung function.

Telegraph

Telegraph is a LabChart extension which makes use of the gain-telegraph output from an electrophysiological amplifier to continue to display data at the correct scale after a gain change.

Module automatically detects and reports P,Q,R,S, and T wave onsets, amplitudes and intervals in real time, as data are recorded. Alternatively ECG data can be analyzed after recording. Raw data are unaltered by any calculations to ensure that the ECG can be reanalyzed. Default detection and analysis parameters are included for human, pig, dog, rabbit, guinea pig, rat and mice ECG. Heart Rate Variability ADInstruments

Module analyzes beat-to-beat (RR) interval variation in ECG recordings or arterial pulse signals coming from humans or animals. Analysis can be performed on a previous ECG recording or while data is being sampled. It automatically detects beats by finding the R wave in the ECG signal and classifies beats into Normal or Ectopic based on the presets (or custom settings) the user chooses. Beats can be manually added or removed during the analysis. The HRV module is included as part of LabChart Pro or can be purchased separately for LabChart.

Module is used for simultaneous recording and synchronization of a Windows Media Video or Quicktime movie and a LabChart data file. It allows the user to record a movie directly to computer using a personal video camera. The movie is then saved and linked to the LabChart data file. The recorded movie and LabChart data file can be played back together allowing users to observe what is happening in the movie simultaneously with any point in the recorded data, or vice versa.
