Application examples

Endothelial barrier
Cultivation of a cell monolayer on one side of the membrane.
Trans-endothelial migration in 2D
Cultivation of a cell monolayer on one side of the membrane. Under flow conditions, the rolling, adhesion, and transmigration of suspended leukocytes can be observed.
Cell transport in a 3D gel matrix
Under flow conditions, the rolling, adhesion, and transmigration of leukocytes towards cancer cells in a 3D matrix, producing chemoattractants, can be observed.
Co-culture and cell barrier assay
Cultivation of separate cell monolayers on each side of the membrane. Signaling, co-culture, and transport studies are all possible.
Apical-basal cell polarity assays
Chemical factors inside of a 3D gel matrix lead to the polarization of a cell monolayer, which is cultured on the other side of the membrane.
Skin and lung models with air-liquid interface
Polarized cell monolayer on one side of the membrane exposed to airflow (e.g., lung epithelial cells, or skin models).
